'Once Sent From the Golden Hall' was Amon Amarth's first full length album on a major Metal label. This album is a bit thrashier than the albums that followed but it still remains unquestionably Amon Amarth.
'Once Sent From the Golden Hall' is essential for any fan of the band. I think the remaster and rerelease of this album was really to make the album more readily available to the legions of new fans that have been taking notice of the Norsemen in light of their recent success. The remaster is not substantially different from the original. It would take great attention to detail to discern what was tweaked. So if you are looking for a slightly newer, fuller sounding album, you might be disappointed.
If you already have 'Once Sent...' what this remaster offers is a complete live show recording of the album. Amon Amarth played an entire live set consisting of every song from 'Once Sent...' and included the disc with this remaster. The live show is without a doubt worth hearing for live takes on classics like 'Friends of the Suncross', 'Dragons Flight Across the Waves', and of course 'Amon Amarth'. For new fans this represents a chance to hear the classic Metal Blade debut of Amon Amarth and for fans who have already heard and love the album, a chance to hear the album played in its entirety as a live offering. I highly reccomend this for the collectors, completists, and new fans who have not had a chance to hear this album.
