Clarence House reaches external completion
The 20 storey Clarence House has reached external completion just 15 months after construction on the main structure commenced, by Shepherd Construction, early in 2006. This residential tower includes 2 floors with six retail units, and 18 floors above containing the building's 213 apartments.
The external cladding consists of white pre-cast recon panels with a full height glass and balcony strip to the front and rear elevations, topped with a sweeping upward slope to a 21st level decorative top cross member.
The tower is the main anchor building of Clarence Dock, which is a new £250m waterside scheme in the heart of Leeds, with over 1,100 apartments, 10,000m^2 of offices, a conference and exhibition centre, a London Clubs Casino, 31 retail units, two hotels and a large multi-storey car park, all landscaped into one compact riverside destination adjacent to the Royal Armouries Museum. The whole development and the museum are set around the original 19th century commercial dock directly off the River Aire.
Clarence House hit the local and national property headlines in late 2005 when London based property tycoon Manoj Raithatha bought 209 of the apartments for £35m in what was the biggest single residential property deal to take place in the region up to that date.
The whole scheme is proving very popular resulting in an accelerated completion date being annonced for the entire development for Autumn this year.
